Alice Kalmakoff, Community Research Assistant

I was born in Anchorage, Alaska and raised in False Pass, Alaska. I have lived in Sand Point for the last 5 years, previously residing in Kodiak for 4 years to be closer to my mother.

I attended Mt. Edgecumbe Highschool in Sitka, Alaska and Alaska Job Corps in Wasilla,Alaska. I have had GIS Training through the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in 2002 through the Qagan Tayagungin Tribe during my employment as a Transportation Coordinator.

I am most interested in spending time at home with my four girls, Savannah, Lexus, Avi and Shyann. Berrypicking, attending local events, being on schedule and keeping a tidy house are my main interests.

The most exciting thing about my employment with Aleut International is the fact that I have a variety of respondents to interview, many of them who currently fish year round. This requires me to spend a lot of time in the harbor, socializing with everyone and learning more about subsistence and commercial fishing stories, past and present.
