Tymlat

Tymlat is located in the Far East of Russia on the Tymlat River that flows into the Bering Sea. The village is in the Koryak Autonomous Area in the Karaginskiy Region of Kamchatka.

The village was established in the mid-19th century as a trading post
Tymlat’s population is around 500, about 70% Koryak
The State Koryak folk ensemble of singers and dancers, "Mengo,” is a renowned cultural group
Kamchatka’s climate ranges from temperate to subarctic
Some residents of Tymlat continue to use dogsleds in winter as a means of transportation
Traditional harvest includes salmon, navaga - a member of the cod family, herring, caviar, reindeer, marine mammals
